Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice

Sussex's only specialist children's hospice says its staff are under huge pressure from the increasing number of emergency cases needing their help.When it was first established eleven years ago - Chestnut Tree House helped care for 30 children. Now it has more than 300 - but it still receives the same level of government funding, which is 8% of its annual running costs. The hospice says the demand for its services is growing every day - partly due to changes in the NHS, and partly due to the fact that the most seriously ill children are surviving longer, but with much more complicated care needs.
