Loose Ends 1986

Like many long-running radio shows Loose Ends was first commissioned for just a short run, a 13 week filler when Pick of the Week was moved to Sunday mornings.
Hosting was Ned Sherrin, best known for his TV and theatre work but who had been on Radio 2 with the late night talk show Late Night Sherrin.
In this clip from the first ever edition from 4 January 1986 you'll hear a couple of voices who would go onto to become part of the regular Loose Ends team: journalist Robert Elms and producer/broadcaster John Walters. Other regulars during Sherrin's reign were Craig Charles, Carol Thatcher, Richard Jobson, Victor Lewis-Smith and Emma Freud.
Ned Sherrin died in 2007. Loose Ends continues to this day with Clive Anderson.
