RNIB Connect Voices Round Up 1 November 2023

Season 2, Episode 206,   Nov 01, 2023, 09:00 AM

Clare Aldworth, RNIB Customer Voice Insight Officer shares the latest opportunities for blind and partially sighted people to get involved in with RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey.

Opportunities highlighted this week included:

Help RNIB make Eye Health Information More Relevant and Engaging
RNIB produces lots of resources about a wide range of different eye conditions. These are created in a number of different formats. RNIB is keen to make sure these resources are as relevant and engaging as possible and this is where you come in.
By contributing just an hour a month of your time you could support one of RNIB’s  key services teams by reviewing our range of eye health leaflets. Your valuable feedback will make sure our eye health information is as helpful as possible for people diagnosed with eye conditions.

What will you be helping with?
• You’ll be providing feedback on how easy the information in the leaflets is to read, follow and understand.
• We understand your time matters, so although you don’t need to review every leaflet we send you, we would like a commitment of at least 4 leaflets in a six month period to ensure we always get a customer perspective.
• You can provide feedback by email or telephone. We may occasionally arrange a group call too. If so, you would be able to access this by phone, landline, tablet or computer and we would help you to do this.

To find out more, please email eyehealth@rnib.org.uk quoting the words ‘Reader panel role’.

Get Set Progress - New Internships Now Available!
Thomas Pocklington Trust is teaming up with RNIB for an initiative called Get Set Progress. This internship programme provides a number of paid internships for blind and partially sighted people looking to secure that first rung on the career ladder or who are returning to work following a career break.

This programme has been around since 2015, with 85% of interns going on to gain paid employment within six months.
Internship positions are advertised like any other position, but only blind and partially sighted people can apply. Some of the roles on offer are based on Artificial Intelligence, Communications and Marketing, Technology, Customer Services, Research, and Fundraising, among others.
While basic skills are needed, you don’t actually need to have all the skills required to do the job.
More information about Get Set Progress can be found on the following pages of the Thomas Pocklington Trust website -
