All The Light We Cannot See - New Netflix Series with Audio Description

‘All The Light We Cannot See’’ is a new Netflix series based on Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer prize winning Novel of the same name, set in the final days of WWII, as the paths of Marie-Laura a blind French girl and Werner a German soldier collide. Marie-Laura is played by Aria Mia Loberti in her first major screen role as a blind Actor with Louis Hofmann as Werner along with an all Starr cast too. The audio description for ‘All The Light We Cannot See’ is voiced by Fern Lulham, a blind Broadcaster and Audio describer.
On Monday 20 October 2023 Netflix and the RNIB hosted a preview screening of the first episode of ‘All The Light We Cannot See’ with audio description to an invited audience of blind and partially sighted people at the Everyman Cinema, Broadgate, London and RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey was there chatting with some of the invited guests to find out how they found seeing the first episode of “All The Light We Cannot See’ on the big screen with audio description.
Toby chatted with Molly Watt, who has both hearing and sight loss and this was her first experience of audio description on the big screen, former RNIB Connect Radio presenter of ‘Read On’ Red Szell who reviewed the novel when it came out and Jonathan Abro a Accessibility IT Specialist, RNIB Volunteer and also a Trustee of the audio description charity VocalEyes.
