ROUNDTABLE: Commemorating the 78th Anniversary of the United Nations

October 24, 1945, marked the coming into force of the UN Charter, since then the UN Day has been celebrated annually to highlight the achievements and challenges of the global community established to safeguard peace from scourges of war, protect human rights, establish the framework for international justice and promote economic and social progress.
This year’s commemoration of the 78th anniversary of the United Nations coincides with the mid-term implementation of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and happens at a time of intense debate and reflection on the performance of the Sustainable Development Goals-SDGs and strategies needed to accelerate achievements of the targets in the next seven years.
