South Sudan Ratifies Maputo Protocol on Gender Equality

South Sudan is now party to the Maputo Protocol after completing pending actions on the document aimed at protecting the Rights of Women. The Minister of Gender and Social welfare handed the document to authorities at the African Union Headquarters in Adiss Ababa on Wednesday.  Civil Society Activist from the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization Executive Director Edmund Yakani welcomed this development, he also condemned the outbreak of violence at the Protection of Civilian site in Malakal.
