Youth Activist Animu Athiei released from detention

Youth Activist Animu Athiei has been released from detention. Animu’s lawyer Phillip Anyang confirmed that she was released on Thursday on a cash bond of $2,500. 

Animu was arrested late December of last year by security personnel in Juba, on allegations that she is a Ugandan National and for possessing a South Sudanese passport which was not registered.  

Anyang says investigations into her case are still ongoing and she is expected to be produced before court again. 

Anyang says his client is not in good health and is receiving treatment.
