Daily Dose @ 5: Malaysia reports first Omicron case in South African student, Why are doctors across India on strike?

AMONG the headlines for Friday, December 3, 2021, Malaysia reports its first case of the new omicron strain of the coronavirus in a foreign student who returned to the country last month after visiting her family in South Africa.

Also, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) called for a nationwide protest on Friday in order to protest against the rising number of violent attacks against doctors in the country. 

This came after a student doctor at Kolkata’s NRS Medical College was attacked by a mob, leaving him with a serious injury.
