Charities Mobility Concerns Over Challenging Streetscapes

Season 1, Episode 832,   Jun 22, 2021, 09:00 AM

Councils across the UK have made changes to our street layouts, under emergency legislation, to improve social distancing and promote cycling during the pandemic restrictions.
For many disabled people, these changes have brought about reductions in their confidence to get around independently and safely.
In Scotland, some charities are concerned that these changes may, in some areas, be made permanent and have entered into dialogue with councils to ask for urgent assessments of their impact.
RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Catriona Burness, from RNIB Scotland, and Anne-Marie Barry, from Guide Dogs Scotland, to discuss their dialogue with Edinburgh City Council on this matter.
