Mental Health Awareness Week

Season 1, Episode 7,   May 10, 2021, 12:00 PM

A brand new Happy Hour is here!

As always, blogger Holly Tuke joins forces with our producer Paulina for a mix of chat and uplifting music, with a focus on sight loss, mental health, and over all wellbeing.

In honour of Mental Health Awareness Week which takes place in May, we have a special episode for you and we start with this year’s theme - nature.

Damien Newman from the charity Thrive discusses how gardening can help both our physical and mental wellbeing, writer and TV personality Monty Don shares some tips on sensory gardening, and we’ll also find out about an RNIB service that can support you if you’re struggling.

Finally, Holly chats to activist and broadcaster Lucy Edwards about how guide dogs can have a positive impact on our mental health, as well as how guide dog Olga has provided her with both guidance and emotional support.

The Happy Hour Podcast is our trimmed down version of this hour-long show, so if you'd like to listen to the full show with all the amazing songs featured, tune in to RNIB Connect Radio every Monday at 1 PM, with a repeat Thursday at 6 PM and Sunday at 10 am. Plus catch a new episode every other week.

If you're struggling with feelings of isolation and need to speak to someone, or if you just want tips on how to stay active and maintain your mental health, charity RNIB can support you.
