Red Sox On Downward Trend Following Dormant Trade Deadline

Aug 02, 2019, 02:48 PM

Last night, Fenway Park looked as though all the helium in a balloon had seeped out. Deflated and dreary.

Just 24 hours after the dormant trade deadline, the Rays finished their three-game sweep of the Red Sox with a 9-4 beat down. It’s as if once Dave Dombrowski announced there would be no changes to the lineup, the guys on the field accepted their fate. The heart and soul that carried this team to a championship is all but gone.

Losing 8 out of 9 at home to a team that has a quarter of your payroll is absurd. Will they be able to turn it around in time? Who knows.

Eduardo Rodriguez will have the first chance as he battles with James Paxton at Yankees Stadium tonight. Tomorrow features a vital doubleheader with the starts up for grabs. David Price returns Sunday Night for the rubber match.
