Cabrera scored Cleveland’s first run in the fourth inning after a two-out single started a string of four straight hits, including Gomes’ RBI single and Greg Allen’s run-scoring double to left.  Cabrera then led off the sixth by shellacking his sixth homer of year off Eovaldi, and second in two nights. Later in the inning, Michael Brantley delivered a two-out RBI single to give Cleveland a 4-0 lead. Yonder Alonso hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh, extending the Indians’ lead to 5-0. The Red Sox rallied on Xander Bogaerts’ RBI double and Mitch Moreland’s sacrifice fly, ending Bieber’s night in the 7th. Adam Cimber entered and retired both batters he faced, allowing an inherited runner to score on an Ian Kinsler groundout, to end the inning with Cleveland retaining a 5-3 lead. Gomes then drilled his 12th homer of the season off Tyler Thornburg in the eighth.
