Schoolchildren across England, Wales and Northern Ireland are picking up their GCSE results this morning.

After that, they’ll be planning their next steps – 40 percent of students take A levels, while the majority will be heading on to vocational courses, apprenticeships, and in to the world of work.

There are big changes this year for those picking up their results – the traditional A* to G grades are gone, replaced with numbers 9 to 1, and the National Careers Service is taking over the advice helpline.
