GCSE pass rates are a little bit higher this year, despite education officials working to make exams tougher.

Just under 70 percent of pupils got Cs in Wales and Northern Ireland, and grade 4 in England, where a new numerical system’s been rolled out.

The system of grade 9 being the best and grade 1 being the lowest is confusing employers, with a quarter thinking smaller numbers are better.

Nick Howard asks Sophie Graham from the National Careers Service whether there is any benefit to the new system.
