Response efforts lead to drop in mother-to-child HIV transmissions

The national ministry of health says efforts to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission have resulted in a drop in infant mortality rates from 16,000 to 13,000.

Dr. Victoria Anib Majur, the HIV Program Manager in the ministry attributes the fall to vigilant screening and management of cases.

Dr. Majur says the ministry has put a lot of effort, including the opening of a treatment center at the Al-Sabah children’s hospital.

She says response programs are also being integrated in the Boma health initiative to reach grassroot communities.

She spoke to Philip Wani in this interview.
