Peacekeepers Day: Profile of a UN Peacekeeper in South Sudan

In commemoration of UN Peacekeepers day, we bring you the story of Bibiche Aziza Kitenge, a procurement officer from the Democratic Republic of Congo, working with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

The "International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers", is celebrated on the 29th of May to pay tribute to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

The theme for the 2018 Peacekeepers Day is “70 Years of Service and Sacrifice” – in commemoration of the 70 years of UN Peacekeeping. 

Bibiche is hopeful for peace in South Sudan, and draws parallels with her homeland citing the rich culture and music saying, “our music and dance has kept Africa happy.”
