"While I was listening to the original piece for the first time i was struck by its rhythmic richness and its faculty to create a distinct mental image : a fluttering flag. Afterwards some other images came quickly on top of this first one, like recollections : machines, mechanical clinking, papers or flapping ensigns, … I choose to take on my work making variations from possible changes of scales and spaces, keeping in the background of my mind the other mental image : flags on maps."
