Efforts strengthened to scale up Midwifery Services in the country
The South Sudan nurses and midwives association is working with partners to scale up midwifery services in the country.
The association has partnered with the ‘Strengthening #Midwifery Services’ project, supported by the governments of Canada and Sweden in the training and support of midwives and nurses.
Latest figures indicate that around one in five babies are dying during childbirth in a country, where conflict has taken a toll on health service delivery.
Repent Khamis, chairperson of the nurses and midwives association says their target is to ensure the presence of a skilled midwife in each Boma or village.
