Prior to going on air in February 1971 BBC Radio Humberside ran a news and information service providing updates on the power cuts occuring at the time due to the miners' strike and other industrial disputes. A makeshift studio was used in the offices of the Yorkshire Electricity Board on Ferensway, Hull - next to the now long-demolished ABC cinema. The reporter was a young Paul Heiney, here recalling those early days.
