Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban receives prestigious African Union Peace award

“I am very grateful for this award. I don’t deserve it, but for the good of the people of South Sudan I receive it.”

Bishop Emeritus Paride Taban has been awarded the prestigious ‘Africa Peace Award 2017’ by the United in Religions Initiative, for his efforts in promoting peace and social justice.

Bishop Taban received the award at the All Saints Cathedral in Juba at a ceremony attended by diplomats and national dignitaries.

Bishop Taban dedicated the award to his supporters and the people of South Sudan.

The Award was established in 2007 by the United Religions Initiative to recognize individuals and organizations working to promote peace. The Regional Director of United Religions Africa, Ambassador Mussie Hailu, said they selected Bishop Paride Taban for his work at the Kuron Peace Village in Torit.
