UN Peace Envoy: Peace is not a mere state of affairs; it is a result of our positive actions

Forest Whitaker, Founder of the Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative in South Sudan has made an impassioned plea to all South Sudanese to use the International Day of Peace to advocate and promote peace with their neighbours and throughout the country.

Whitaker an American actor and UNESCO Special Envoy for Peace and Reconciliation says the people of South Sudan have been embroiled in what he calls a ‘senseless conflict’ for far too long which has ripped the country apart.

Whitaker says living free of fear and violence is a universal Human Right, which must be promoted and upheld.
