Message from UN Special Representative on International Day of Peace

“We want the children of South Sudan to be able to reach their full potential. We want people to be able to live safely and with dignity in their own homes.”

As the world observes the International Day of Peace, the UN Special Representative to #SouthSudan Mr. David Shearer says the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) remains committed to protecting civilians and ultimately facilitating their safe and voluntary return of displaced persons to their homes.

Mr Shearer says the solution to the country’s crisis lies in #dialogue.

He says #UNMISS is dedicated to helping the people of South Sudan build durable #peace to allow them realize their full potential.

The theme for the day is Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.
