Child killed when WFP-contracted aircraft hits house in South Sudan
A child was killed when a World Food Program – chartered plane crash-landed into a house in Juba.
The plane was attempting to land during a thunderstorm in Juba on Tuesday morning.
The five-year-old girl was pronounced dead at Juba Teaching Hospital while four other people – a boy, a girl and two women – were injured during the incident. In a statement WFP says the Ilyushin-76 cargo aircraft hit a tree and the metal roof of a single-storey house as it tried to land at Juba airport.
WFP Communications Officer George Fominyen says an official investigation is underway.
