It's been more than half a century since the thalidomide drug scandal - but survivors have told Good Morning Ulster they're close to a major breakthrough in their campaign for compensation from the German government. The drug was developed there as a sedative, but it was also used for easing morning sickness in pregnant women. It led to tens of thousands of children being born worldwide without limbs and other birth defects. Later today thalidomide survivor Kim Fenton will be part of a delegation meeting the First Minister Arlene Foster as part of their campaign for compensation from Germany. Our reporter Kevin Sharkey spoke to Kim and she told him about the strain of living with a body which she says is "deteriorating rapidly".
