North-east woman who broke her back to scale Mt Kilimanjaro
A north-east woman who was left temporarily paralysed after a fall eight years ago is set to climb Mt Kilimanjaro to raise awareness of spinal conditions.
Gillian Fowler is set to start her 20,000ft climb next week, along with a team including her surgeon and her physiotherapist who also broke her back several years ago.
They're doing it to raise funds for Back Care, the UK's back and neck pain charity, and BackStrong Trust, a group set up by Gillian to provide information to those living with spinal injuries.
