Chartbusters on Radio 1

This is what's known as brand extension with Richard Skinner presenting the first ever edition of Chartbusters. Starting at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon it preceded the main chart show at 5pm and focused on those records bubbling under the Top 40 and new releases. It also offered some competition to the Network Chart running on many commercial stations which had opted to add an extra hour. Chartbusters would ultimately be more readily associated with Bruno Brookes when he took over the Radio 1 chart show in April 1986. This recording is from 19 January 1986.
