'I don't know what's coming next' - Australian woman in battle against deportation
An Australian woman, who has lived and worked here for the last 15 years, is fighting a battle to stay in Northern Ireland following the collapse of her marriage. Melanie Brehaut, who lives in Belfast and works for the City Council, found out via a letter from the Home Office last week that her application for permanent residence had been turned down. Her marriage broke down in 2013 but she was hopeful this would not affect her right to stay here. Melanie says she's been left shell shocked at the decision and told our reporter, Nicola Weir, that Northern Ireland is her home.
