IGAD monitors respond to allegations of bias

The IGAD Monitoring and Verification Mechanism has spoken out against reports that it is falling to do its work.

The Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (MVM) has been accused of not responding to ceasefire violations during fighting in Guit County of Unity State on the 13th of this month.

The army accused the monitors of refusing to accompany SPLA officers to the scene of the clashes.

In this interview with Nelson Lwak , Deputy Chairperson of IGAD joint technical committee, Mohamad Amin Moustafa clarifies on the monitor’s scope and method of work.

Moustafa says IGAD is investigating the recent violations and stresses the mechanism's impartiality.
