How cutting down a protected tree could cost you thousands of pounds

Three hundred pounds - the price you pay if you illegally cut down a protected tree in northern Ireland. Yesterday, Alistair Steele from University Street in Belfast was fined just that after he was found guilty of breaching planning law by felling a laurel tree inside Malone Park Conservation area. But is such a fine enough of a deterrent? Our reporter Martin Cassidy has been looking into how well protected our trees are.
