Thomas Meuwissen: Master Violin Maker

After almost dying out, the art of stringed instrument making is now in the midst of a renaissance. For the next two years, master violin maker Thomas Meuwissen will be working from his self-designed workshop on the seventh floor of the Musical Instruments Museum which means that the public will be able to watch him and his assistants as they create a quatuor: two violins, one viola and one cello for the Queen Elizabeth Musical Chapel. Richard Harris speaks with Mr. Meuwissen during the opening celebration. For the music in this program Lieselot Watté and Kacper Nowak play cellos designed and built by Thomas Meuwissen.
