Gerry Anderson
Gerry Anderson was something of a broadcasting legend in his native Northern Ireland with hugely popular shows on Radio Foyle and Radio Ulster. A mid-90s foray into the afternoon schedules of Radio 4 with Anderson Country didn’t go down well with listeners with a writer for The Guardian reflecting that he’d been “transformed from popular regional name into a focus of national lamentation.” Anderson continued his daily show on Radio Ulster until 2012. He died in August of this year. Here he remembers the battering he got from his time on Radio 4.
