Cotton farmers are urged to cut down on water waste
It's one of the most precious resources on earth, and yet almost 3,000 litres of water are used to produce just one cotton T shirt.
That's roughly the amount carried by a small airport fire engine.
So farmers are coming under pressure to use less.
We discuss the issues with Alison Ward, chief executive of an organisation called Cotton Connect - which includes the European clothing retailer C&A, and which works to increase the amount of sustainable cotton grown, and Andrew Simms of the campaign group Global Witness.
