For the first time in many years, the Karamoja cultural festival is taking place in Moroto north eastern Uganda.

Years of insecurity before meant such an event could only be held in a safe location, in the capital, Kampala, hundreds of miles away.

But for the first time, and as a sign of the improving situation, that has taken place in Moroto, in the heart of Karamoja.

For many children born during decades of instability, it is the first time they witnessed the showcase of their culture.

The BBC's Kassim Kayira threw on the traditional attire and joined the festivities.
