Bill Gates urges improved audits of aid in Africa

Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates has called for improved audits of international aid in Africa, to make sure it achieves its aims.

Gates says aid remains vital in ensuring that living standards are improved across the continent.

But there are those that think that aid only fosters dependence.

Gates explained his belief in the power of aid while in conversation with BBC Africa's Emmanuel Igunza, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
