Using a #Lumitest #Lightprobe to listen to hard-drive noise. @comproom_co_uk

It's not always easy when you can't see at all, to know if your modern-day computer is actually, you know, booting up especially if it's taking a longer time than it usually would. I've made the mistake of switching my machine off before now only to hear, in that final second, the Windows startup sound... Oops! With SSD's this problem is more common than you might think. They make no noise, and the good old days of putting your ear to the case of your computer and hearing the crunching of the drive is gone. Enter the light probe! If you know where your hard-drive light is on your case, you can usually use it, to show you when there's drive activity and if there isn't any for a long time, then switch it off. If it's busy but you can't tell, the light probe will show you that it is doing something, and you won't make the mistake that I have several times and kill it during a checkdisk for example.
