With recent reports that China has been jamming the shortwave reception of the BBC here’s a reminder of the Cold War jamming by the then Soviet Union which finally ended in 1980.

In this boo you’ll hear BBC Radio 4’s Janet Cohen talking to former Russian correspondent Kevin Ruane and then a report from John Osman. Both clips date from 21 August 1980.
