Originally from the small town of Bowen in North Queensland, Hammo went to school at Saint Mary's and then onto boarding School at Mount Carmel College at Charters Towers. His first job was working on a farm in the Bowen area then into hospitality at The Denison Hotel.
Whitsunday Boy from the beautiful seaside township of Bowen (Population 10,000) so comes very much from a country background. Loves his hometown.
Hammo's family has had businesses in the Whitsunday region since 1960 so has a very strong community and local focus from Small crop farmers, fisherman, to local small business and community organisations.
Originally Hammo comes from a hospitality background and has worked and been in management roles from the local pub to restaurants to even working for The Sheraton. He was a Cocktail making Champion in the late 80's for Queensland and trained students with The Australian Bartenders Guild and The Hospitality Training Company in Sydney but radio was calling so in 1994 he jumped ship and made a career out of having fun on the air with music with a slight bit of cheekiness.
Hammo is a corporate MC for many businesses, organisations, and special events; having hosted hundreds of special events from The Winton Outback Festival, Bowen Fishing Classic, Ingham Italian festival, Ingham ladies race day. Townsville Cup. Rockhampton Cup Mt Isa Cup to Doomben, Randwick and Flemington (just to name a few). All in all Hammo is a country boy who refused to move from NQ because of his love for the area and the people.
