Roger Moffat - Obituary (Hallam)
As the BBC prepared to number its networks in 1967, the Light Programme split into Radio 2, and a part time Radio 1, It was left to announcer Roger Moffat do the honours and read the peaceful last rites of a service which had taken us from War to flower power.
Roger was time-served at Radio Luxembourg and, most notably, the BBC, before moving to become part of the accomplished launch team at Radio Hallam in Sheffield. The station, whilst conservative by nature, largely allowed Roger freedom to be fairly outspoken when the mood took him; and it is for that he is still most fondly remembered. He hosted mid mornings at Hallam for seven years. There, he worked again with Keith Skues, who presented this touching and lengthy farwell, folowing Roger's death in December 1986 at the age of 59.
