In this episode of GOOD DEEDS, host Nanette Wiser talks with Feeding Tampa Bay's Lorena Rivas Hardwick, Chief External Affairs Officer about their expanding programs that help with food, healthcare and more. Local nonprofits Feeding Tampa Bay and The Skills Center were recently awarded $200,000 each for their work to provide life-changing resources to vulnerable communities across Tampa Bay from the Bank of America's Neighborhood Builders program, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Since 2005, the program has awarded 51 nonprofits in Tampa Bay for a total of $10 million invested.  Learn more: FeedingTampaBay.org
About Lorena Rivas Hardwick: A 30-year resident of Tampa Bay, Hardwick has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Master of Arts in Organizational Management. In the last 20 plus years she has worked in both the nonprofit and government sectors. At Feeding Tampa Bay, Lorena leads advocacy efforts as well as overall government relations for the organization and her department oversees media/public relations. Prior to Feeding Tampa Bay, she spent time in both the healthcare and transit policy space after 15 years with the City of Tampa where she served under three mayors in various roles. In addition, Lorena has a passion for volunteer work as she started her career managing a volunteer program for United Way that allowed her to interface with agencies and clients on a daily basis.
