The Shawshank Redemption with Evan Waite

Episode 257,   Nov 13, 10:05 AM

The very funny novelist (Life Wants You Dead), TV writer (Family Guy, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Stephen King fan Evan Waite joins Vespe this week to talk about The Shawshank Redemption, both the novella and the Frank Darabont adaptation. Is this the movie America needs this holiday season? One that is full of hope even in the face of the worst of the worst authoritarian regimes and shows all the worst people getting their comeuppance? It just might be. We talk about that as well as the strength of King's writing, how others just can't compare, and maybe even a dig at Dean Koontz's abysmal hairpiece for good measure.

Based on King's novella Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, Frank Darabont's adaptation is commonly thought of as one of the all-time great movies. It focuses on a wrongfully imprisoned man and his decades long bid for freedom and all the folks he impacts along the way.
