Episode #3 - Cardiff Met with Dr Mikel Mellick
Episode 3, Oct 24, 05:00 PM
Welcome to this special edition of the Team Wales partner podcast, in partnership with Speakeasy Club and hosted by Simon Clarke.
In this series, we’re joined by Team Wales partners and some very special guests for an open and honest conversation about mental health in business, sport and life.
We’ll explore how these organizations support their teams, the reasons behind their commitment to mental well-being, and how to navigate those tough but essential conversations.
Launched in honour of World Mental Health Day, this series shines a light on the importance of creating a supportive and mentally healthy workplace.
In this episode, we speak to Dr Mikel Mellick, a Proffesor at Cardiff Met specialising in mental Health in sport. Mikel has a fascinating background and uses his own lived experience and years in academia to ''humanise'' the approach to looking after people in sport. He priortises a ''strength'' approach as apposed to the more common and less positive ''defecit'' approach. There are so many brilliant snippets from this chat and we really hope you enjoy listening to Dr Mikels perspective.
We’d love to hear your feedback and what you took away from this episode, so please let us know and tag us on the details below 😊
