Another sold out season - Dining with Ghosts - and a walking tour of local haunts.

Ghost Tales of Weston: "When someone experiences unexplained noises, a closed door that opens by itself, a sudden bump in the dark, a feeling of being touched, or bells ringing from nowhere, they may pass it off jokingly as a ghost. Believe me, I have had lots of these happen to me. And so have others in Weston." Link to Purchase.

- Nearly one-in-five U.S. adults (18%) say they’ve seen or been in the presence of a ghost, according to a 2009 Pew Research Center survey. An even greater share – 29% – say they have felt in touch with someone who has already died.

Verna Kowertz is the Keeper of the Ghost tales of Weston. Many of the stories she's collected are from the local residents. However, the list continues to grow with added updates provided about tourist encounters and store visitors who share their own experiences.

Highlights include sightings and close encounters -
Resident ghosts at Haunted hotels and B&Bs.
Seeing Luna the ghost dog walking down Main street.
Haunted phone tag during an overnight sleepover at a haunted store.

About Verna's store: Main Street Antiques "offers the best variety of antiques and vintage items in Weston. On display in the store: the signed Capodimonte figurine, the old Japanese silk painting, the old Polly Gas pump, and a Civil War desk complete with an apparition."

Weston is an easy day trip from Kansas City. Check out the local shops and be sure to drop in at Main Street Antiques to visit Verna and the Captain's desk for a side dish of spooky tales and local history.
