Palladium Theater executive director Paul Wilborn stopped by the Arts Alive! podcast studio (before the storm) to talk about the myriad irons he has in the fire, including the Palladium’s ongoing capital campaign.

The St. Petersburg College venue – which originated 99 years ago as a church building – needs some upgrades, he explains, in the area of sound, sightlines and seating (those are vintage 1925 seats, and, Wilborn says, they’ve simply got to go). The goal is $10 million.

Other conversation topics include Wilborn’s book of short stories, Cigar City: Tales from a 1980s Creative Ghetto, from 2019. He’s traveling around the bay area promoting the Florida Book Award-winning volume with readings, signings, and special events that include his wife, actress Eugenie Bondurant, and several of their musician friends.

Also discussed is Florida Hustle, Wilborn’s 2022 novel, and his upcoming third book, a fact-based work of fiction about organized crime in Tampa.

He even reveals the new book’s (prospective) title. #stpetecatalyst #palladium #paulwilborn ##billdeyoung #stpete #tampabay #radio #radiostpete
