In our ninth episode of Pearls' Tales from the Superyacht Laundry, we sit down with Ella Peters, AKA The Superyacht Nanny.

Ella grew up sailing, and for her, the superyacht industry was always going to be on her horizons. Having taken her introductory courses for her 18th birthday, she started off working as a stew for a couple of years. Breaking out to complete her degree in sustainable fashion production, she then got offered her ideal job: nannying for a high profile family onboard.

The episode discusses the nuances of navigating being a superyacht nanny alongside other crew members, the horror stories, and the incredible experiences. It also delves into how nannying onboard is a whole new level compared to land-based jobs and how to develop that all-important gut feeling.

Ella chats about the misconceptions of nannying; spoiler: no, she doesn't just go on holidays with wealthy families. Already with a better work-life balance than other roles onboard, Ella had no real plan to leave the industry, and she loves what she does.

Her time organically allowed her to create her company: The Superyacht Nanny, a destination for all things childcare onboard with resources. Ella now balances her entrepreneurial journey, offering consulting and coaching and has created a community of nannies - even some who were trained where the Royal Family employ their childcare!

The episode covers the changes in the industry and childcare in general, as well as Ella's advice for setting boundaries and standing your ground. Oh, and also, her golden rule of never letting kids into the crew mess!

Tune in to hear Ella's journey to becoming a superyacht nanny and how she now helps others…
