Welt Hunger Hilfe South Sudan has just concluded a five-year project that responds to the needs to rebuild livelihoods in the flood-prone Rukbona area of Unity State. The 2021 floods destroyed farmlands, homes and the means of livelihoods, leaving people without land for cultivation and pastures. WHH supported the people through the tough times by re-establishing cultivation through multi-crop model gardens. WHH's Agriculture and Rural Development expert Mackenzie Masocha says the success of the project has had far-reaching returns for farmers as the village saving and loan associations are spawning more business ventures.
