With hosts Pete Gallagher, Tim Valle, Stefanie Hinton, Peppermint Patty, Alexis Baum, Jeff Schorr and Diane Gallagher (photographer). The Florida Folk Show has been an important part of the music scene in Florida for more than two decades and has helped answer the question: “What makes a song a Florida Folk Song??” Those who like traditional folk often discount contemporary folk, and vice versa. It really has less to do with the rules and more to do with soul! Does the song or songwriter or performer have a Florida soul? Can you feel it? The late great co-founder of the Florida Folk Show, songwriter Bobby Hicks, liked to say: “I know a Florida Folk Song when I see it!”  Everyone at Radio St. Pete is proud to continue the great work the Florida Folk Show has done to capture that soul, stir up interest in the genre and, maybe, inspire some new Florida songwriting . In addition, the Florida Folk Show always  broadcasts from remote locations, from the Craftsman House Gallery in St. Petersburg to the Everglades Rod & Gun Club in Everglades City, the Flamingo Bar, Jack Kerouac’s House,  on board the R/V Western Flyer research vessel, at the Florida Folk Festival in White Springs, the Will McLean Festival in Brooksville, even a biker gathering at Herb’s Limestone Country Club, Middle of Nowhere Florida, Bula Café and many more. It’s Florida, need we say more?
