(Aired 8/26/2024) In this week's episode, Rui Farias interviews Jay Caldwell, an author, collector, and creator of the history of the baseball Negro Leagues.  For about 180 years, baseball has been played on fields and diamonds throughout the United States. But like most of America, in the late 1800s, and early 1900s it faced the evils of segregation and Jim Crow. The history of segregated baseball is something Major League Baseball has struggled with, and still struggles with today.

Rui Farias is the Executive Director of the St. Petersburg Museum of History, which has  been sharing the stories of the Sunshine City for 102 years. In his podcast he and guests explore the truths, possibly the myths of the people and events that created the Sunshine City.
