Almaty railway station, main hall and platform

Jul 15, 07:41 PM

This recording was made in the midst of my migration from Russia to Uzbekistan, through Kazakhstan. At this moment, I have been in a position of forced exile for a little over a month. If I were to describe my condition, the words would be shock, depression and complete confusion. But at the same time there is hope for the best.

At the time of recording, I am at the station with my fellow exile and waiting to board the train to Tashkent, where we are expected at an emergency residence for musicians and sound artists.

Recorded by Vladimir Bocharov.

Part of the Migration Sounds project, the world’s first collection of the sounds of human migration.
