MONTE CARLO RALLY: A Black Dawn of a New Era
- Hyundai driver Hayden Paddon was involved in a single-car incident on the opening stage, which killed one spectator. It is the first spectator fatality in a WRC event since 1996.
- Sebastien Ogier goes on to win for M-Sport Rally Team/Ford, their first WRC win since Ford withdrew as a full-fledged manufacturer at the end of 2012
- After months of speculation and some fair amount of worry, the new WRC formula was seen as a success, drawing comparisons to the Group B monsters of the 1980s
