Season 2, Episode 569, Jun 13, 02:00 PM
Have you ever wondered what it might be like being a visually impaired parent, coping with the birth of your baby, getting through those first few days, weeks and months too?
RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey recently caught up with Jenny Molineux about her experiences of being a visually impaired Mum and her involvement in the up-coming in-person RNIB discussion event around parenting as a visually impaired person here at the RNIB’s Grimaldi Building in London on Thursday 20 June 2024 where Jenny will be openly sharing her experiences of Motherhood as a visually impaired person along with two other VI speakers.
Jenny talks to Toby about her own experiences of motherhood as a visually impaired person, what support was out there or not before and during the birth of her daughter, how understanding the RNIB has been in supporting Jenny from being in the role of an Eye Care Liaison Officer (ECLO) prior to the birth of her daughter to her role now as one of the RNIB’s Children, Young People + Family Health Services’ Family Support Officer which fits better with Jenny’s childcare needs.
The parenting as a visually impaired person discussion event takes place at the RNIB’s Grimaldi Building in London on Thursday 20 June from 11am-1.30pm and has limited capacity, so please rsvp to stories.library@rnib.org.uk before the end of Friday 14 June if you would like to attend the event.
